Kathy Dawson was raised in Colorado and attended Arizona State University and the University of Northern Colorado, receiving her BA and MA degrees. She is an artist whose fundamental training comes from her innate creativity - born from a family of artists and woodcarvers. Her watercolors show an antiquated and romantic style through their play with light and lace-like detail. She is most recognized for her paintings of European villages, castles and landscapes on sheet music, maps, blueprints, foreign currency and other travel souvenirs. Kathy also owns K.D. Originals, a thriving business where Kathy paints murals, recycled furniture and decorative faux wall finishes. Her artistic hand is displayed in homes, businesses and schools throughout Colorado, Texas and Minnesota. Her most notorious work was done at the Buell Mansion, Denver. Her work has been commended numerous times in the May issues of Colorado Homes and Lifestyles Magazine. Kathy has lived in Germany and has toured Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean many times. Combining her art with the travel industry is a natural combination for Kathy. As a registered travel counselor & group specialist, she escorts groups on tours and cruises and paints souvenirs for them along the way.
